Total Trees Pledged: 50Supporting actions: Sustainable Forestry, Science and Technical Assistance, Tree Protection through Management, Environmental Education,
We at the California Institute for Environmental Design and Management (CIEDM) will continue adding and replacing trees in the pocket-homestead urban forest of more than 500, shrubs and vines in the Arcadia EcoHome in Arcadia, California. Our efforts will help keep up its features as a biodiverse, pesticide-free, ocean and river-friendly urban forest. This will help ensure that it functions as shelter for pollinators and wildlife, and helps store water and carbon dioxide.

Sustainable Forestry and Tree Protection through Management: CIEDM has practiced these two subjects since 2004 when the urban pocket forest at Arcadia EcoHome began to established. We've kept restoring the forest by replanting trees under the challenge of extreme & lengthy drought and harsh heatwaves in Southern California.
Science & Technical Assistance and Environmental Education: The Arcadia EcoHome ground has been served for a number of years as a site for several citizen-community science projects where we observe & record weather conditions, lead & train volunteers to observe, collect & report pollinators & their activities, a showcase site of community education with tours offered to professionals, students & general public.
We have planted a good portion of the forest with native plants in organic and ecological methods considering site specific conditions. We have been developing our pocket forest since 2000 from 5 mature trees on the site to 500+ trees, shrubs & vines plus countless ground covers as of today. We offer numerous workshops & meetups in environmental education to local students & neighbors, national & international visitors.
