Detroit - Planting for the future
Total Trees Pledged: 50,000Supporting actions: Tree Protection through Management, Environmental Education,
The City of Detroit has pledged to plant 50,000 trees throughout our seven council districts in an effort to restore our beautiful tree canopy for the future.
Trees: 50,000
Trees: 50,000
When planting trees in residential areas, the City of Detroit will provide tree care instructions and the contact information to our forestry division for questions on caring for newly planted trees. When picking our tree species, we always look to diversify the tree canopy within that residential area, as well as selecting disease resistant varieties of trees. Before each tree is planted, a member from our forestry department and/or landscape architect inspects the designated planting area to ensure we are planting the right tree in the right place.
Our pledge will be implemented responsibly by assuring that we are planting the right tree in the right place, diversifying our tree canopy, and providing community outreach on tree benefits and care.
