Working with our clients throughout the world, we are driving private sector finance to critical projects which conserve and restore trees. Projects follow methodologies established by respected carbon standards such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the American Carbon Registry Standard (ACR) to measure and verify their impact and permanence. Our Million Mangroves program is committed to the replanting or conservation of one million mangroves across projects in China, Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia with more locations coming onstream. Mangroves, the “wonder tree”, can store up to four times more carbon than a tropical rainforest but globally more than 35% have already been deforested. Mangroves act as a bridge between sea and land, not only helping drawdown carbon, but also protecting coastlines from storm surges and providing important nurseries for fish, crab and shrimp.
We work with the following partners across all our forestry projects, in addition to Million Mangroves: Infinite Earth, Arbor Day Foundation, Clean Air Action Corporation, Carbon Fund, CO2 Balance, WCS, The Nature Conservancy of Canada, Climate Bridge, Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy.
All the projects we work with include programs to build capacity and knowledge with local communities on nursery development, tree planting and maintenance, and education to value trees standing and build sustainable livelihoods. We work with our clients to deliver the finance that enables projects to conserve and restore forests and ecosystems.
We work with project partners who understand the local environment and the needs of local communities to ensure that implementation is appropriate and sustainable.
