Tree-Plenish is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to empower students to create a more sustainable and equitable future through community tree planting. Each year, we partner with hundreds of schools across the United States and provide them the necessary resources to organize local events where they distribute and plant trees for members of their community. The goal of events is to get schools to offset their paper usage and bring them closer to having a net-zero impact on the environment.
By committing to planting 120,000 trees before 2023, our organization and the schools that are a part of it will contribute to a widely distributed increase in canopy coverage and carbon dioxide sequestration. Furthermore, by providing resources to students that we work with to educate them about tree-planting and the environment in general, we will ensure that the ideals of our mission, which parallels that of 1t.org, will spread beyond our organization.
We are partnered with a variety of regional, state, and national non-profit organizations, including One Tree Planted, Project Green Schools, Keep Massachusetts Beautiful, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, Sustainable Urban Forests Coalition, Arbor Day Foundation’s K-12 Schools Program, Grades of Green, the Joedy Foundation, and more.
DATA AND TECHNOLOGICAL TOOLS: Tree-Plenish has an established technology team and creates tools to automate its processes, enhance the experiences of partner schools, collect event data, and analyze event data to guide future events
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: Tree-Plenish provides resources to students from hundreds of schools across the United States that teach them how to host Tree-Plenish events, plant trees, and more.
CONSERVATION: Tree-Plenish guides and supports events that plant trees in suburban and urban environments and restore canopy coverage in those areas.
Schools are provided a variety of different options by Tree-Plenish when they are deciding which trees to choose to plant at their events, and are given guidance that helps ensure that they choose trees that are fit for their region. Furthermore, to ensure the success of planted trees, tree care resources are provided to those who opted to have a tree planted on their property. With regards to that, trees are generally planted on private property as legal clearance typically is not needed on such.
