Forest Monitoring Designed for Action
Creating monitoring tools that help communities "LEARN" the carbon value of their forests and treesSupporting actions: Data and Technological Tools, Science and Technical Assistance,
WRI's data and science via Global Forest Watch (GFW) and the Land Emissions And Removals Navigator (LEARN) online platforms help create the enabling environment for healthy forests in the United States by providing data and resources to decision makers to maximize the value of their forests and urban tree canopies via partnerships with state, tribal, county, and cities across the United States. By providing customized estimates of carbon emissions and removals from forests and trees, the LEARN tool equips communities nationwide with data that lead to policy changes e.g., via tree protection ordinances, and the ability to consider the role forests and trees can play in their GHG inventories and Climate Action Plans.

WRI and partners created LEARN, the Land Emissions And Removals Navigator, as a free online interactive mapping tool that supports decisions made by local communities in the United States to reduce emissions and maintain and increase carbon stocks in the land sector. By helping communities track tree canopy, carbon and equity outcomes of their investments, LEARN creates the enabling conditions to monitor the implementation of successful projects that produce real and equitable climate benefits.
