Verizon to Plant 20 Million Trees by 2030

Verizon’s commitment to the planet includes focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency, emissions reduction, water conservation, waste reduction and more. One of our focus areas is bio-diversity which includes helping to re-establish global tree canopies destroyed by natural and man-made disasters.
As part of 1T.org, we are pledging to plant 10 million additional trees by 2030. This brings our total commitment to 20 million trees by 2030.
We are proud to partner primarily with Eden Reforestation to accomplish this significant goal of 10 million additional trees by 2030. We expect to plant at least 1.6 million trees each year through 2030. We will work with multiple partners for local and regional requirements as needed.
Since 2009, Verizon has planted a total of 3.3 million trees in 27 states and 13 countries including the US. This includes hurricane, tornado and wildfire relief efforts. We publish audited results of our tree planting efforts in our annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reports.
Partnering with Eden Reforestation, Arbor Day Foundation, American Forests, Texas Trees, and Million Trees Miami. Possibly other regional partners as well.

There are a variety of annual sustainability events and programs that Verizon is proud to offer for employees.
Here are just a few examples:
Earth Hour – Pledge to participate in Earth Hour activities and we plant a tree per participant.
Earth Day – Various challenges and events that result in tree plantings.
World Environment Day – Green Eating pledge where we plant 1 tree per pledge made.
America Recycles Day – Plant trees to top locations with the most E-waste collected for recycling.
NFL Sustainability partnership – Multiple urban forestry and reforestation efforts.
Fall for Green – Variety of volunteer events throughout the fall months. 1 tree planted per event participant.
Green Team Signups – Plant a tree for each person that signs up to be a member of Verizon’s Green Team."
Our planting partners will only plant native tree species to ensure the best survival rate – ensuring the right tree in the right place. Our partners work closely with local communities for both planting and on-going site care.
